Holly Fruehwald is from Brampton, Ontario, she moved to Oshawa in 2011 where she started her chemistry degree. She completed her BSc in 2017 and started her MSc in Materials Science the same year at Ontario Tech University. She is now pursuing her PhD in Materials Science at the same University. Research interests are the design of novel catalysts for applications in electrochemical energy systems. She also likes reading books about space, space travel, and astronauts in hopes to one day to visit another planet.
Lidya was born and raised in Valencia, Venezuela. She moved to Canada in 2011 and has been a student at Ontario Tech University since 2012. She completed her BSc in Biological Science in 2016 and is currently pursuing a PhD in Applied Bioscience under the supervisor of Prof. Jean-Paul Desaulniers. Lidya’s interdisciplinary work involves the chemical synthesis of modified nucleic acids and the assessment of their biological activities in mammalian cell lines. Lidya is very passionate about education and advocates for social change and equity. During her spare time, she enjoys reading, cooking and spending time with her family and friends.
